The Qiang Village

An Introduction to Qiang Nationality
    With a population of 306,100, Qiang live mainly in the Aba Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and the Beichuan County of the Mianyang City in Sichuan Province. There are records about Qiang activities even in oracle bone inscriptions in Shang Dynasty. Qiang people engaged in agriculture and are good at building dams, wells and stone architecture. The stone watchtower is unique in style and strong and imposing. Their embroidery and cross-stitch work is perfect. The ancient Qiang flute is the most characteristic musical instrument of Qiang. The Qiang language belongs to the Qiang branch of the Tibetan-Burmese group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. The mountain-sacrifice gatherings is major festival. Qiang believe in primitive religion and stone worship.
