An Introduction to Buyei Nationality
With a population of 2,971,500, Buyei live in Buyei-Miao Autonomous Prefecture and Anshun Region in the South and Southwest of Guizhou Province. Their ancestors are part of Baiyue in ancient time. The Buyei language belongs to the Zhuang-Dai branch of the Zhuang-Dong group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. They engage in agriculture and experienced in traditional embroidery and wax printing. Their housing is of the slate type and of two-story houses on stilts. Rice is basic food. The dog meet, the taste of hot and sour is preferable. The 6th of June in lunar calendar is major festival of Buyei. They worship of deity.
