  An Introduction to Dong Nationality
    With a population of 2,966,300, Dong lives in the provinces and regions of Guizhou, Hunan and Guangxi. Dong was a branch derived from Baiyue in ancient time. The Dong language belongs to the Dong-Shui branch of the Zhuang-Dong group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. Dong people engage in agriculture with forestry as a sideline. Rice is basic food and the taste of hot and sour are preferable. They used to drink rice wine and eat fried cake. Their dwellings are two-story houses on stilts. The drum-tower and sculpted bridge are the best part of art in their architecture. Dong brocade, Dong cloth, cross-stitch work and embroidery are full of characteristics. The Dong multi-part singing style enjoys a longtime fame. The festival to sacrifice to the god of ox and the New Harvest Festival are most celebrated. Dong people worship of deity.
