	An Introduction to Dongxiang Nationality Dongxiang has a population of 513,800. The name of the nationality is given for the name where they live, i.e., Donxiang of Hezhou (the name of the place now is Linxia in Gansu province). Dongxiang engaged mainly in agriculture and husbandry. The Donxiang language belongs to Mongolian Branch, Altaic Family. The Dongxiang people are fond of singing "Huaer" (a kind of folk song).
