An Introduction to Salar Nationality
With a population of 104,500, Salar live in Xunhua of Qinghai province. They are mainly engaged in agriculture and gardening industry is developed. Salar people respect white camels. The language of Salar belongs to Turkic Branch, Altaic Family. The Salar people are good at singing “Huaer” (a kind of folk song) and playing their unique instrument called "mouth string". Their major holidays include Lesser Bairam, the Corban Festival and the Mawlid al-Nabi. The Sala people believe in Islam.
