An Introduction to Pumi Nationality
The Pumi, with a population of 33,600, live in the Lanping Bai- Pumi Autonomous County of the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture and Lijiang region in Yunnan Province. They engage in agriculture and animal husbandry. The Pumi language belongs to the Tibetan-Burmese group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. The Great Year Festival is most celebrated. Pumi people believe in the nature worship and the Mahayana Buddhism.
