An Introduction to Nu Nationality
The Nu, with a population of 28,700, live in the Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. They live in the Nujiang Grand Canyon in the old age. Nu engage in highland agriculture, hunting and gathering. They used to cross the natural barrier of the Nujiang River with sliding cable. The Nu language belongs to the Tibetan-Burmese group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. Their major festival is the Fairy Maiden Festival. Nu people believe in nature worship, Christianity or Catholicism.
