An Introduction to Naxi Nationality
    With a population of 308,800, Naxi live mainly in the Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang District in Yunnan Province. They engage in agriculture, sidelined with husbandry and handicrafts. The Naxi language belongs to the Yi branch of the Tibetan-Burmese group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. The Dongba writing, the character system used by Naxi, is the only survival of ancient pictographic script in the world. The ancient town of Naxi and the Dongba writing were both inscribed on the List of world cultural heritage. The ancient music in Naxi is also well known over the world. The Sanduo Festival is the most celebrated by Naxi. And people believe in Dongba relegion and Mahayana Buddhism.
