An Introduction to Uygur Nationality
With a population of 8,399,200, Uygur live in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Religion. They are expert in building ditches and channels for their oasis agriculture. Handicraft industry and commerce are also well developed. Uygur language belongs to the Turkic group of the Altaic language family. The writing language is preserved. Uygur people are good at singing and dancing. Their major festivals are Id al-fitr (Fast-breaking), Corban and mawlid al-Nabi. Uygur believe in Islam.
