An Introduction to Banan Nationality
With a population of 16,500, Banan engaged mainly in agriculture, as well as in handicraft and other sidelines. The handmade “Bonan Knives” are well-known. The Bonan language belongs to Mongolian Branch of Altaic Family. The Bonan people are good at singing “Bonan Huaer” (a kind of folk song). Their major holidays include Lesser Bairam, the Corban Festival and the Mawlid al-Nabi. The Bonan people believe in Islam.
