An Introduction of Yao Nationality
With a population of 2,637,400, Yao live in the provinces of Guangxi, Hunan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guizhou and Jiangxi. Yao has many subgroups. They used to crop cultivation in a way of roving in the mountainous areas. They settled down and practice mountainous farming, hunting and fishing now. They are expert in weaving and dyeing and embroidery. The Yao language belongs to the Yao branch of the Yao group of the Chinese-Tibetan language family. The Pan-wang Festival is the most celebrated festival. Yao people believe in the Primitive religion or Taoism.
