An Introduction to Gelao Nationality
With a population of 574,900, Gelao live mainly in the Wuchuan Miao-Gelao Autonomous County, the Daozhen Miao-Gelao Autonomous County in Guizhou Province and the boundary areas of the provinces of Guizhou, Guangxi and Yunnan. Gelao engage in agriculture. Their language belongs to the Chinese-Tibetan language family with its group and branch affiliations yet to be identified. The Spring Festival is most celebrated festival. Gelao people believe in a plethora of gods and ancestors.
